After spending his entire life in chains, this 2-year-old Husky finally gets his “first freedom” run. When he and other dogs from a bad life were rescued by a rescue group, this gorgeous puppy had no concept what it was like to run in a field. Now he has this opportunity, and the scene is breathtaking!
Biscuit, a beautiful Siberian Husky, had a terribly difficult existence. He was imprisoned in chains for two years with no place to call home. When Amy Hines, a volunteer with Dogs Deserve Better, came across him, everything was about to change.
The woman was driving when she noticed almost a dozen dogs tied in the snow, one of which was Biscuit. She pulled over right away and approached the pack of dogs. Amy even rescued one of the pups that day, and then went to great lengths to persuade the owner to allow her to assist the other dogs as well.
“Amy spotted Biscuit and his siblings, friends, co-canines, on a property in Kentucky while visiting,” the rescue group wrote.
“Amy didn’t just drive by, she stopped and rescued one of the dogs that very day. She continued communicating with the owner until every single dog was rescued from that property, where they were chained 24/7 with no shelter.”
Biscuit and his other eight friends were rescued and taken to the Dogs Deserve Better’s rehabilitation clinic in Virginia, Good Newz Rehab, after a couple of months of work by the volunteers at Dogs Deserve Better. But it was well worth the effort when they observed the Husky’s reaction when he ran for the first time.
“Multiple dedicated rescuers went over 4500 miles in two months to complete this rescue,” the group wrote. “In our 6-acre field today, Biscuit and Benjamin made their first ‘Freedom Runs’ chain free. It was incredible. This is something we never get tired of seeing…. Biscuit has been on the chain his entire life until last week.”
