Park Rangers Discover Six Baby Wild Elephants Stuck Together

Six newborn elephants were discovered to be stuck in a mud pit in Thailand’s Thap Lan National Park, and a crew of park rangers raced out to the scene to investigate the situation. When they got there, they saw the six newborn elephants lined up in a row, completely trapped in the mud and unable to escape on their own.

The park guards turned to look around when they noticed the adult elephants were still nearby and appeared to be waiting for their young to emerge from the hole and join them before departing.

The rangers were aware that it was their responsibility to arrange for the reunification of the newborn elephants and their parents.

Unfortunately, the park rangers lacked the necessary tools to immediately assist the newborn elephants, so someone had to keep an eye on them overnight until the necessary tools could be brought over the following morning.

One by one, the baby elephants gently made their way out of the muck hole and back up to safety until they were finally able to start excavating a type of ramp into it for the elephants to climb out securely.

All six of the baby elephants seemed just fine after their ordeal, and the park rangers watched them for a bit to make sure they were walking and getting around OK.

If the park rangers hadn’t dedicated their time to trying to help the six baby elephants, there’s a good chance they wouldn’t have made it. Instead, they were safely reunited with their family, and will hopefully be careful around deep mud pits in the future.
