The labor and delivery facility at Baptist Medical Center Beaches sees the birth of gorgeous infants on a daily basis.
But there was one recent delivery that was unlike any other.
A random duck emerged in the Florida facility’s central plaza a few weeks ago. Because the only way in from the outside is through the courtyard’s uncovered hole, the duck is thought to have flown in from above.
But, as time went on, it became evident why she’d picked that secluded area.
She made a nest and placed her eggs there.
The delighted mother duck soon brought ten lovely ducklings into the world while medical workers gazed on adoringly.
The newborn ducks’ first obstacle in life, however, would be to maneuver their way out of the structure because they were practically contained within it.
That’s precisely what they accomplished, with the support of their mother and some friendly medical staff.
The duck, it seemed, had picked the ideal location for her family to begin – the same one that countless human moms had chosen as well.
“We’re still giddy about this lovely story — and the ten unplanned births we had that day!” In a blog post, Beaches OBGYN wrote. “Way to go, Mama!”
