This is Finn, a very well-behaved and skilled baseball bat retrieval dog.
He is skilled at what he does and does it well. That is, unless someone wanted to ruin his nice process and do it.
On Tuesday, Finn was out dutifully doing his thing at a minor league game between the Las Vegas Aviators and Sacramento River Cats when a game official inexplicably decided to flip the script.
Just as Finn was running out to fetch a discarded bat, the home plate umpire stooped down and picked it up before he got there, tossing it from the sweet pup’s reach.
Finn had been snubbed — and folks in the stands were none too happy about it; their chorus of boos directed at the official made it quite clear.
Here’s that moment on video:
No of which baseball team any of the spectators had previously supported, they were all vehemently supporting Team Finn in the showdown between the dog and the ump at this point.
But despite the unsightly setback, Finn continued with his bat-collecting responsibilities. (After all, he is a pretty good boy.)
But just for the record, here’s how it ought to have gone:
Now that’s more like it.
Keep up the good work, Finn!
