Michelle Buckley and her family were blessed with a wonderful dog named Burleigh for 17 long and joyful years. Sadly, the sweet puppy died in August of last year.
Buckley wrote at the time, “Burleigh, we love you very much.” “Thank you for everything you’ve done for us.”
Burleigh was laid to rest in a peaceful part of the Buckleys’ lawn about a year ago, but his love lives on — even among people who never had the chance to meet him.
A couple of months ago, the Buckleys decided the time was right to open their hearts to a new pet. And, before long, they were join by this puppy named Dougie.
Dougie was born after Burleigh had passed, but the family soon came to sense that the two pups shared a mysterious connection.
Buckley began to observe that whenever she let Dougie out into the yard in the morning, he went straight to Burleigh’s grave.
“Despite the fact that we have such a large yard for Dougie to explore, he sits patiently here every morning for approximately an hour, just where Burleigh is buried,” Buckley wrote.

Why, exactly, Dougie is drawn to the spot isn’t exactly clear. But Buckley has a guess.
“It seems like he knows,” she wrote.
Despite the fact that Dougie has never met the dog his family adored before him, they appear to have an unknown bond that drives Dougie to that area every morning.
His family can’t help but be impacted after witnessing it personally.
Buckley remarked, “He must feel something,” and added, “He is the loveliest puppy and he’s mending our hearts.”
